Comparative Study

Winter Break Assignment

you might be thinking...

What is a comparative study?

You will:
Research an ART HISTORICAL artist or art movement.
Research a CONTEMPORARY artist or art movement that RELATES to
your art historical artist or art movement.
Create a power point or prezi presentation summarizing your findings.

Why do I have to do this?

Statement of Inquiry: Art movements show how the
principles and perceptions of beauty have shifted
throughout time to reflect how artists have discovered
and expressed ideas, feelings, nature, culture, beliefs,
and values.

Inquiry Questions:

What are the characteristics of my chosen

artist/art movement?
How does my chosen artist/art movement reflect
what was happening in the world at the time?
Is my art historical artist/art movement still relevant
today? How is my own work related to these
artists/art movements?
