Units of Work
As well as the FOUR internal assessments, you will study TWO External units this year. During the year you
will also learn and develop your geographic skills.
Externals:
Natural Landscapes
This unit looks at the large Natural Landscape of the Tongariro Volcanic Centre. You will learn about the
processes that operate and produce this unique landscape. You will also study human uses within the park
and their perspectives about current issues that face the park.
Development
In this unit you will look at differences in development within a country. The case study will be based on
Tanzania and will examine the reasons why disparities in development exist.
(Geographical Skills- optional for students who achieved the standard in level 1)

FieldtripA three day field trip will take place in Term Three and is compulsory. Students will visit Tongariro Volcanic
Centre in preparation for Achievement standards 2.1 and 2.5.

It is important that the systems for assessment are consistent and fair.

Authenticity:
Your teacher needs to know that all the work you have handed in is your own work.

Missed Assessments or not Meeting Deadlines:
It is important to hand all assignments in on time.
Please refer to your assessment handbook, for the relevant procedures you must complete should you miss
