Greeneration Philippines
A Reflection Paper

Being a unified movement of Filipino youth to combat the impacts of climate change,
Greeneration Philippines has affected me more than you could imagine. Last 4th of December, I
was able attend another seminar led by Ms. Pebbles of Greeneration Philippines and once again,
she never failed to amaze me with not her only her great speaking prowess but also with the
topics that she has prepared for that days seminar.
One of the topics that Ms. Pebbles taught that day which truly made my jaw drop was the
fact that a moth which we all know is black was once was white. The trivia popped out when Ms.
Pebbles was discussing to us adaptation and mitigation as a way of somehow surviving Global
Warming and the excessive natural calamities that comes with it. Personally, I thought that
adaptation and mitigation is a great help and it also helps us that we know about it. With us
adapting to the environment that global warming has left us and mitigating the activities that can
further harm us can aid us in not only surviving global warming but defeating it as well.
In addition, Ms. Pebbles presented to us a table showing what would happen to the earth
and all living things when the temperature continues to rise. Presently, the temperature has
already risen to 0.85C and it is pretty obvious that it has already affected us and our way of
living. That being said, I realized that if we continue not caring about the temperature of the
earth and ignoring the effects of global warming, each and every one of us might end up
sprawled unto the ground, dead and lifeless. It may sound a little bit harsh and scary but it is the
most probable thing that could happen if we are to keep a blind eye regarding the situation.
All in all, the seminar conducted by Ms. Pebbles is very effective and very eye-opening.
She does not simply read the presentation or explain the diagrams and pictures in a toneless and
bored voice but she did it in a way that the audience and she have a real connection. It also does
not harm that her team brought some freebies to entice the audience in speaking up and
answering some questions. However, looking beyond the freebies and the jokes, I believe that
the message has been clearly conveyed: we should work hand in hand if are to continue our
existence here on earth.
