GCSE Photography Proposal form

My Chosen theme is:
FANTASTIC AND STRANGE

My reason for choosing this theme:

I like photographing normal objects and making them look unique. I like thinking outside the
box to make my images stand out and just be very normal and everyday. I want people to
look at the photos and interpret them in different ways.

What areas could you start to look at within your chosen theme?
In my theme I want to focus on levitating objects. I got my inspiration from one of my
favourite TV programme, Marvels agents of Shield. In one of the episodes there was a
truck that was levitating and I thought that I could do something similar using different
objects.

How will you explore this theme? What locations, people, objects will you consider
I want to explore levitating stones, clocks, origami and leaves. I want to have set lighting so I
will do a lot of studio work. This will draw the attention to the subject matter instead of the
background.

Please list artists/photographers who fits with your theme and explain how they link?
Jan Svankmajer is one of the photographers that links with my theme as he arranges stones
in different formations. I will do something similar, but I will hang the stones instead of
making a picture out of them. I can also change the subject matter from stones to leaves
and clocks.

List any books or websites you have already looked at and galleries of place of interest
you could visit. How will you research your theme?
I will re-search my theme in books and online. I will look at the dictionary definition of
strange then look for photographers. First I will look on Pinterest as general re search. I

could also watch some TV shows and movies that are based on strange and unreal things
like Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and Shield.

Explain how you will research appropriate sources and make your photographs
Specifically talk about what strengths do you have in terms of research, practical
experience? camera skills, lighting skills and editing skills?
I will look online for different camera techniques that I can explore like telephoto and
panoramic. I will look for fantastic and strange photographers in books and online. I will try
and present my photos in different forms like cyanotypes and a 3D structure.
