TIPS ON WRITING

UHR1012 ESSAY

Basic
Each candidate will be given 3 selections of
essay in Final Exam. You have to answer
only two.
Each answer must consist of:
Introduction
Content (usually at least 3 contents)
Conclusion

Intro tips
Intro must be between 3-5 sentences only. Do not write
too long.
Frame for intro is like this opposite pyramid:

i.e., first sentences must be broader and general. And the

very last sentence must be specific, like you repeating
the question again or mentioning the title of the essay.

Content tips
Between 4 6 sentences only.
Frame for content is like this pyramid:

i.e., first sentence must be very specific, direct to the

actual point. The rest is explanation, and must be
supported by any statistic, academic evidence or
selected relevant quote from reputable books/scholars.

Conclusion tips
Between 3 5 sentences only.
Frame for conclusion might be in pyramid or
opposite pyramid shape.
You must sum up all the arguments, or your
hope, or your expectation, and must closely
related with the topic.

Additional tips
Every single intro/contents/conclusion must
be separated by its own paragraph.
Distance every paragraph with one line
spacing.
You can highlight / underline main keyword
of your content.
Always support your content with academic
evidence, selected quote etc.
