To Whom It May Concern: I have a great amount of respect for Marcos Cruz as a student and as a person. As a student, Marcos has shown great academic prowess, growth, and maturity. I have known Marcos as a student for two years now, starting when he was in my Math Analysis Honors class last year. Marcos immediately showed me how passionate he is not just for mathematics, but also for learning in general. I can really tell that Marcos cares about receiving a quality education. Even though I did not have Marcos in math prior to last year, teachers would rave about him, and the quality work that he completed. I was impressed again that he took learning in mathematics so seriously and admittedly wanted to be challenged. This year he is in AP Calculus, and again he has accepted and cherished the advanced mathematical challenges he has faced. He often asks insightful questions that show me how engaged he is in the material and model great behavior and passion for his peers. I have no doubt that this trend will continue in any road that Marcos decides to pursue. Marcos is also a very well rounded individual, who knows that he needs to work hard now and in the future in order to succeed and become the best possible individual he can be. He is a very charismatic individual, who is really starting to realize his capacity for leadership. Marcos has shown great capabilities in his collaborative skills during group projects and activities that have given me first-hand knowledge of how he can be an effective communicator as well as being a great problem solver and mathematician. He is a model student who always has a positive attitude that rubs off on his peers, making everyone around him that much better. For his many outstanding personal qualities as well as his self-motivation, determination, and success academically, Marcos embodies the qualities one hopes to find in anyone seeking to become a global leader. His intellectual capabilities and his maturity are clearly evident to those who have taught him. As a result, I recommend Marcos Cruz to you without reservation, and hope you will consider his application favorably. I believe he will continue to grow personally, professional, and will bring back great wisdom to share with the school from this conference. Sincerely, Collin Felch Math Teacher 2013 LAUSD Teacher of the Year Ambassador School of Global Leadership 701 S Catalina St Los Angeles, CA 90005
