PERFORMANCE NOTES

NOTE DURATION:
Throughout the piece, note durations are approximate unless explicitly noted.
Rhythmic precision is not expected and players should approximate rhythmic figures, focusing on creating organic musical gestures.
Vertical lines indicate that musical events should sound simultaneously.
Where other instrumentalist's parts are not visible due to page turn constraints,
a boxed star will indicate that musical events should sound simultaneously.
ALL

Indicates that all players are coordinated.

Vln.

EXTRA MATERIAL:
If a player reaches the end of measure before the other players, additional material is provided in two forms.
A boxed letter references a boxed musical phrase on the same page which may be played to fill out the measure.
Additionally, a dashed box indicates that the material within may be repeated to fill out the measure.
STUTTER BOWING:
Bowing in one general direction, start and stop bow to articulate rhythms while maintaining contact with the string.
Bowing in this manner should produce a staccato stuttering effect.
When rhythms are too fast to articulate in this manner, one may transition to tremolo bowing as transparently as possible.
Throughout the piece, this technique will be refered to as stutter bowing.
