LITURGY OUTLINE

Have classroom set up for liturgy (as per sacred space groups design).
Begin with students sitting quietly around the sacred space. Commence with the Sign of
the Cross, and then play the song Choices by George Jones. Students are to listen
quietly to this song and reflect on what they have learnt this term.
Volunteer: Have one student light a candle in the center of the circle/sacred space to symbolize
Gods presence.
When song has finished begin readings.
Zack: Lord, give us strength to turn away from sin and live our lives according to the Gospel values.
We know that with prayer your love can help us overcome our weaknesses, and fight the inner
struggles and the outside influences that surround us.
All: Amen.
Cassandra: Gospel Reading: The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12).
Jesus saw the crows and went up a hill, where he sat down. His disciples gathered around him,
and he began to teach them:
Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!
Happy are those who mourn; God will comfort them!
Happy are those who are humble; they will receive what God has promised!
Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires; God will satisfy them fully!
Happy are those who are merciful to others; God will be merciful to them!
Happy are those who work for peace; God will call them his children!
Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires; the Kingdom of
heaven belongs to them!
Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against
you because you are my followers. Be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept for you in
heaven. This is how the prophets who lived before you were persecuted.
Alis: The gospel values of Jesus Christ are still relevant in present society and are a strong guide to
help us make appropriate moral choices in our lives. The Beatitudes of Jesus are a set of values which
provide a way of life that promises salvation, they also provide peace in the midst of our trials and
tribulations on this earth and help us to model out lives the way God intended.
Dominic: In order to examine our conscience, think about our life in the light of Gods words. This
Word is a mirror in which we see our lives and know ourselves. The following questions help us open
our mind and hearts, to give us a clearer image of ourselves of our sins, failures and weaknesses, as
well as our hopes and successes.
Play reflective music
Chelsea:
-What is my attitude towards money and material things?
Am I mean or wasteful or greedy?
-Do I work honestly?
Am I generous in sharing my time, my talents and my goods with others?
-Do I speak with gentleness to others?
Do I gossip, spread rumours or tell lies about others?
Leah:
-Do I hurt others in any way by my words, gestures or actions?
-Am I generous in the way I treat others? Do I harbor grudges or resentment?
-Am I able to forgive myself?
Am I blind or deaf to Gods presence in my life?
-Do I respect the dignity and worth of others?
Keiren:
-Do I shut my eyes to persecution by my inaction?
Do I discriminate against others?
-Am I prepared to be different? To make a choice informed by my belief and acceptance of the Gospel?
Play song Its Your Life Francesca Battistelli.

Nathan: As we begin our journey of morality and righteousness, we join together in prayer, asking
your blessing for our world and all people.
