Focus The Mind Forward

Verses 1 7

Seek things above, not

beneath you. You are dead; be dead to
the old you. Control the Old Sin Nature,
dont give way to it. Dont walk down
hill!
Verses 8 11 Put off actively the
things that lead you down into control by
fleshly lusts, and stupid things/people.

The Old Sin Nature old

1. We are born with an inherited tendency to

sin more easily in some areas than others. Rom

5:12ff, Eph 2:1ff
2. We continue to have this old nature and
must control it by the Holy Spirits filling. 1 Cor
3:1ff, 1 Jn 1:5-10
3. The OSN is a constant source of inner
frustration and temptation. Rom 7:14ff, Jas
1:13-15,
4. The OSN is defeated by treated its desires
as dead and rejecting them. Rom 6:6-11, Col

Feed on the Word of God

fellowship with the author!
Verses 12 13 Put on the other centred

behaviours that make your life a channel

of blessing to all around. Let the fruit of
the Holy Spirit fill you through fellowship
with the Lord.
Verses 14 17 The mechanics of
spiritual growth and power are given
here; let the Word dwell richly within!
Worship!

The Overflow of Growth

Verses 18 21

Mutual submission is the

order of the day for biblical marital
relationships. Those unworthy to submit to
ought not to be married! Love is the response
to submission, and obedience the mark of
respect by children.
Work relationships are
Verses 22 25
evangelical opportunities, but half hearted
work = slack people, and no witness! The Lord
watches our work standards! WITNESS!!!!
