Letter of reference for:

Charles Roth

January 3, 2015
To Whom It May Concern:
I have known Charles Roth since 2007, when I joined Landmark High School as Assistant Principal.
During the last seven years, we have interacted on a daily basis and often for extended time due to
our work together in the school leadership cabinet, in school-wide curricular and professional
development initiatives, and in many other leadership contexts.
During his tenure at Landmark, Charles has made a positive impact on our school culture and
environment. His commitment toward transformative education is evident not only in words but also in
deeds. Charles prepares rigorous curriculum and delivers it in a way that pushes students to think on
deep levels. His lessons are packed with content and students do not have any down time. Charles
questions his students extensively, pushing them to think deeply about the given topic, and involving

relationship with real world problems. He also encourages his students to take leadership in the
classroom, and one can see the development of character that results from this endeavor.
Perhaps, Charles most appreciated quality is his humility and collegiality. He has developed many
strong relationships with people in our building from the administration to the teachers, to the
support staff, to the custodians and safety agents. His concern for others knows no bounds, and he is
selfless in the way he treats others. There are many staff members in our school that will go out of
their way to support Charles in his endeavors because of their profound respect for him.
I believe Charles is an outstanding teacher leader and a distinguish educator for the simple fact that
his work ethic, concern for students and natural leadership ability make him an excellent candidate
for any teaching role. His commitment is top-notch and his follow-through is exemplary.
He has played
many key roles in our schools organization including School Leadership Team member and Math Team
Leader. Serving in the role of Teacher Leader, Charles provided solid leadership and a commitment to
resolving the disparate opinions of our staff, while remaining steadfastly convicted about changes he
felt were critical for the ultimate success of our school.
His dedicated service to the students and
teachers of Landmark High School, and the significant mark hes made on our schools culture and
practice, is the best proof there is of his endurance and commitment to public school excellence.
I strongly recommend Charles Roth as a candidate for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Karen Low
