Brief Biography of Minister Everett Lynn Hughes

Everett Lynn Hughes was born in Wharton, Texas on October 11, 1963 to Connie Evan Hughes and the late
Clarence Hughes. Lynns passion for music began at an early age of 8 or 9 when he heard the sweet sounds of a piano.
This sound was heard as his Aunt Roberta was taking piano lessons. But the passion didnt stop there, he can remember
being outside playing, and would stop playing to listen to his Uncles Paul and CJ and their band called the Superior
practicing. As he matured so did his love for two things, Jesus and music. He combined the two in 1984 at New Hope
Missionary Baptist Church in Wharton, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Douglas Moss, where Lynn played the bass
guitar. Not only did Lynn realize he could combine his love for Jesus with his love for music but he also realized music is
his gift, his talent and his calling. So in 1986 he accepted his first position as Minister of Music. The position of minister
of music was held from 1986 to 1993 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. From there he went to First Missionary
Baptist Church in West Columbia, under the leadership of Pastor Mark Davis, from 1993 to 1997. And this is when
Lynns ministry began to blossom.
His ministry began to spread the gospel through song at the following churches:
1997 to 2002 New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Wharton, Texas, under Pastor Rivers Glover II
2003 to 2005 Mount Carmel, Richmond, Texas, under Pastor Curtis Lucas
Playing for two services at the following churches:
2005 to present New Hope Community Church, Wharton, Texas, under Pastor Charles Sterns
2005 to 2009 Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Rosenberg, Texas, under Pastor Theodore Johnson
2009 to 2011 New Fellowship Tabernacle Church, Bay City, Texas under Pastor Andrew Floyd
2011 to present New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Bay City, Texas under Pastor T.L. Richardson
While spreading the gospel in church, Lynn still wanted to reach more people. So he stared his first gospel
group in 2001 called the Spirit Truth and Praise (STP). He didnt stop there, in 2006 he started his next groups called
Collaboration of Praise (COP) and 4Real. Besides producing music for himself and others, Lynn has presided over choir
workshops and performed in other settings such as weddings, funerals, conferences and banquets. Throughout the 30
years he has shared his knowledge with other musicians both young and old, he continues to share his knowledge today.
