Environmental Division This position was through the Workforce Solutions employment division for twelve weeks, not to exceed thirty-two hours in a pay week.
Cashier Duties
Beginning of Day opening of computer register to
include loading of cash into drawer. Post in cash register (and states database) payments of permits and other environmental programs . This will include any payments that come in through the mail. End of Day closing of register to include cash, credit and debit cards, checks and running reports to make sure of all reconciled.
Questions for water quality inspections
of businesses and trailer parks and their yearly inspection by a representative of Environmental Health. Numerous questions for inspector, calls had to be transferred to them from the staff assistant. Tattoo artists both established and new came into the facility to renew their licenses, get a new license or have inspector come for establishment to provide their services or re-inspection for renewal. Calls and in-person contact for staff assistants.
Inspections were carried out by
inspector, staff assistant was responsible for calls sent to their voice-mail extension for inspections and updating information yearly permits at country clubs, public swimming facilities and other private swimming pools and beaches. Staff Assistant prepared all invoices for permits for the yearly mailing to facilities with pools. Payments for permits were posted into cashier system, and permits prepared and sent out to the companies.
Responsibilities of Staff Assistant
Daily scanning of documents
Posting of pool permit payments Preparation of pool permits to send to facilities Maintain state database for construction permits, scanning, posting payments, and distributing paperwork to appropriate inspector.
Continued responsibilities
Prepare or give permits with payments for tattoo
artists, body piercing artists, and their facilities. These would also need to be input into the state database for their information and payment. Payments in the form of cash, debit, credit cards into cashier system for all programs. Answer and distribute calls to inspectors of various programs.
Staff Assistant
Responsible for the accurate input
into the Florida States Database system for all permits, construction permits, licenses of body piercing, tattoo facilities, and payments for these and their artists.
Other Duties
Scan information to states database system. This will
include permits, and construction permits and other programs. Prepare pool permits to send out, post payments for same when sent or called in or in person payments. Answer phone calls and front desk clients, submitting clients to the proper program inspectors. Assist regular employees in any administrative duties on projects and extra paperwork as needed.
Additional Duties
Collect water samples for analysis from
clients, collecting payment for this service and making sure the paperwork is filled out correctly.
In Conclusion
Being in the position of a Staff Assistant was
beneficial for me, by giving me more respect for myself through the formal training I received as a Medical Administrative Specialist through Indian River State College. I can only hope that I can go further in a medical facility where I can gain the knowledge to be a better employee.
