Each school receiving funds under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
(ESEA) must develop a written school-parent compact jointly with parents for all children
participating in Title I activities, services, and programs. That compact is part of the schools
written parental involvement policy developed by the school and parents. The compact must
outline how parents, the school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved
student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and
develop a partnership to help children achieve the States high standards.
SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT
The Glenburn Public School and the parents of the students participating in activities,
services, and programs funded by Title I agree that this compact outlines how they will share
the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the
school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the
States high standards.
This school-parent compact is in effect during the 2012-2013 school year school year.
REQUIRED SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT PROVISIONS
School Responsibilities
The Glenburn Public School will:
1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning
environment that enables the participating children to meet the States student
academic achievement standards as follows:
Instruction in Title I classrooms will be aligned to the North Dakota Language Arts and Math/Common
Core Standards. Instruction will be supplemental and driven from the outcomes of the assessments.
The curriculum will be aligned to scientifically based reading and math research. The school will provide
opportunities for the Title I staff to receive on-going staff development and be provided with ample
opportunities for taking classes and attending workshops as well as conferences as they become
available.

2. Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which

The Title I staff will prepare progress reports for each child in their Math or Reading programs.

4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for
consultation with parents as follows:
Title I reading and math will be available to meet with parents during the regularly scheduled
conference. If the parent or classroom teacher request a joint conference in the classroom teachers
home room arrangements will be made.

5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their childs class, and to
observe classroom activities, as follows:
Parents will be encouraged to visit their childs classroom or the Title I classroom at anytime. They will
be encouraged to attend all school activities and asked to participate in the planning of Title I events
and activities.

Parent Responsibilities
We, as parents, will support our childrens learning in the following ways:

Monitoring attendance.
Staying informed about my childs education and communicating with the school by
promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district either received by my
child or by mail and responding, as appropriate.
Serving, to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups, such as being the Title I
parent representative on the schools School Improvement Team, the Title
Policy Advisory Committee, District wide Policy Advisory Council, States Committee of
Practitioners, School Support Team or other school advisory or policy groups.
SCHOOL AGREEMENT
The entire school staff will share the responsibility for improved student achievement, and
will:
Believe that each child can learn.
Hold parent/teacher conferences.
Send frequent reports to parents on their childs progress.
Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate in their childs class
and observe classroom activities.
Provide an environment conducive to learning.
Respect the student, their parents and diverse culture of the school.

PARENT/GUARDIAN AGREEMENT
