Geometry Grade: 10-12 Period /Time: 4» period ‘The areas listed below are the eight Iowa Teaching Standards. These eight categories are being utilized in this format to provide feedback for formative observations. All these areas may not be addressed during class visitations. When reading the report, watch for written comments provided after the applicable standards, which pertain to this particular observation. Standard 3: Demonstrates competence in planning and preparation for instruction, - Ms, Tentinger uses a blend of both PowerPoint slides and white board work when delivering bulk of lesson, © She advances through problems and concepts, bullet by bullet on each slide then moves to the white board to write example problems. - Ms, Tentinger has her room arranged to allow for students to easily work with their person sitting next to them or to work in groups of four with the pair in front or in back. © One student sits by herself in the front and one by herself in the back. There are no student behavior problems nor students asking to use the restroom or leave class. Standard : Engages in Professional growth. - Ms. Tentinger meets on a regular basis with other Geometry teachers to be sure they are engaging in common assessments. Standard district. : Fulfills professional responsibilities established by the school Administrative Comments: ‘Student engagement - Taking notes, completing the practice examples during the lesson when asked, participating in small group work, asking questions, and starting on the homework assignment. ~The degree of note taking varies by student. All students have notepad ‘out and engage in some writing. o When Mrs. Tentinger specifically directs students to write a problem or concept down, they all do it. - All students appear to engage in practice problems.
