ROI Return on Investment

by Matthew Walsh, CDT

We may be in the middle of winter, but it feels like

spring. Lets hope the weather holds for a while, since
the KC CSI has a calendar of events that would be a
shame to miss out on. We just finished the product
expo, which in my opinion was a complete success once
again thanks to our outstanding Expo Committee.
Please be sure to check the website often as Andrea is
constantly updating the calendar, and you would not
want to miss out on things like our joint meeting with
the AIA and Builders in February, CDT Study Group,
CCPR Study Group, and our hands on demo that is in
the works as we speak.
Its also time to get your submissions in for the awards
event. I mentioned this a few months ago, but if you are
working on something truly noteworthy make sure to
submit the project to our awards committee. Not sure
who to contact for any of this? Last page of the newsletter that is painstakingly put together every month has all the contact info.
In closing, our committee members do a bang up job greasing the wheels of the chapter. Make sure to thank these individuals when you see them.

Randall Milbourn, CSI

Integrated Weather Barriers, LLC
Parkville, MO
Managing Member/Founder

Randall, aka Randy, has worked in

the construction industry for
nearly 40 years. He has degrees
from various community colleges
and also has added to his education with different construction
degrees as well. He started
working for Integrated Weather
Barriers in 2012, the year it was
founded. Their main focus is Building Envelope Consulting and offering expertise QA/QC services to building owners.
Randy joined CSI about 2 years ago. He finds CSI very beneficial to have
the opportunity to meet and share ideas with many other industry professionals. He also belongs to numerous other organizations in the industry:
SMACNA-KC, RCI, Sustainable Roofing & Waterproofing Alliance (SRWA),
and the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA).
His wife, Tammy, and he have been married for 35 years now. They have 2
sons, Benjamin (also a member of CSI) and Timothy. When hes outside of
the office, Randy enjoys getting outdoors and hunting, fishing, and golfing.
Hes also a big baseball fan. While some of us locals from Kansas City might
find this an interesting combination, his favorite teams to root for are the
Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals.

After Five Oclock

By Ashley Ott, CDT

I am passionate about many things however, my favorite topics to talk

about are usually food, wine, and cocktails. Obviously these topics do not
trump my family, whom I love dearly, but lets be honest with each other I
think you would much rather read about food, wine, and cocktails. To provide inspiration for those of you who would like to try something new this
winter .
The Moscow MuleBelieve it or not in the late 1930s Vodka was not very popular in the
United States. Legend has it that in the 1940s, at a bar in L.A., the owner
ordered too much ginger beer and needed to get rid of vodka that was
collecting dust. Viola, throw in two limes and the Moscow Mule is born. The
key to this beverage is a copper cup and a spicy ginger beer. There are two
different methods of serving this beverage. One, a copper cup. Option two,
a regular glass. I myself am on team copper cup and there is no convincing
me otherwise, it is pointless to try, I am very stubborn.

Recipe
2 oz. Vodka
3 4 oz. Ginger Beer
2 ea Lime Wedges
Stir for 30 seconds.
