Abstract

Actually, Venezuela is the country with most use of electric power per capita in Latin
American. At the end of 2012, the number of consumption got to 4262 Kwh/Resident.
Without a doubt energy plays a fundamental role for the economy of any home, company or
institution. The efficiency in the use of energy its an opportunity to save economic
resources, increase production process, and to exercise a positive impact in the
environment. The purpose for this investigation is to study institutional energy efficiency.
In this respect, the general aim points to develop a plan of saving electric power in the areas
of sport, dining room, direction of transport, direction of PIPSUC, of the University of
Carabobo, so this way to manage to reduce the consumption to 20%, as legislated based on
official gazette No 39.298, dated November 03, 2009. To achieve that goal the theoretical
fundamentals drawn for print media such as books, texts, standers, norms and articles about
the components of a building, measuring electric variable, measuring of consumption,
energy audit, and building skin. The methodology employed was field investigation, so the
information was collected in the same place where phenomenon occurs. This project is
aimed to know the areas of higher consumption of the study. The data collection technique
was document review, interview, and observation.
