Materials

The goal of this lesson is to read


the book the Snowy Day by
Ezra Keats and have the students
create their own snowy day
through a collage/ paper tearing
method.

Out Comes

Introduction: Have the students


meet at gathering spot and bring
out the book Snowy Day by
Ezra Keats. Talk with students
about what they do on a snowy
day.

a variety of reasons
4.1 show respect for their own work
and that of others
4.2 share and talk about their art

Snowy Day

1) Read the book Snowy


Day and after discuss
what the images looked
like in the story. ( What
materials were used? Why
its makes the book
special)
2) Explain to the students
what Keats did with his
story and how it was
made through a paper
tearing/collage method.
Also make sure one
explains what paper
tearing and collage is.
3) Have the students return
to their seats to watch a
short video about making
collages. After talk about
what methods they saw in
the video.
4) Explain to the students
that you want them to
create their own Snowy
Day picture based on the
method of collage/paper
tearing.
5) Brainstorm Ideas about
what images they could
create in their picture.
6) Have them create the
collage.

Conclusion
Have
theDay
students come to
Snowy
gathering spot and share what
they created in their picture.
