Interview with our Vice-Headmistress, Miss Diakoumi

by Daniella Liakouri

-Was it your choice to become the vice-headmistress in this school?

-Yes, it was my choice because I also wanted to offer something to the school
management and I believe that I have succeeded in it.
-Do you like co-operating with Miss Kremida? Why?
-Yes, I like it because my cooperation with Miss Kremida is perfect at a personal and
business level.
-How many years have you been working at this school?
-I have been working here for about 6 years.
-Are there any changes that you would like?
-Yes, I desire some changes that have to do firstly with the building infrastructure,
that is, more modern and brighter; and secondly more new technology, namely
computers.
-What do you usually do in your summer holidays?
-I go on holiday with my family to various islands.
-What do you think about children who, without an important
reason, take absences without leave and what is your advice to
them?
-I believe that students that
get
absences without reason miss

lessons and complicate
learning.

be more consistent in their
student
obligations, but above all to
see the
educational process with joy and consider the class as their
physical space. Also remember that teaching hours in high school
are the basis for their future prosperity and progress.
-Have you ever tried to do some other job?
-Yes, when I was a student in order to help myself and my
parents financially, I worked as a sales assistant in a pharmacy
and in a bookstore.
-What do you think about the clothes today's teens

and will always be done. Just my advice is: Every
time I leave the house, I look at myself in a full length mirror. That is, I should
adapt fashion according to my particular characteristics (physically and spiritually).

My Poem
by Ariadni Voskaki
When I look at the sky,
there it is.
This blue and quiet colour
which seems so peaceful.
When I look at the flowers,
there it is.
This green colour
which gives life to everything.
When I look into your eyes,
there it is.
This black colour
which shows how miserable you are.
But you keep telling me
that the sky is not at all blue,
or the flowers don't have
any green in their leaves.
You also tell me
that no black lies behind your eyes.
Who should I trustyou or me?
And no one
can see the truth and the lie.
We see
what we want to see.
I see blue,
you see pink.
I see black,
you see white.
But the question is;
''How can I trust me?''

Tattoos: Are They Safe?

by Georgia Linardou
Tattoos: No Safety Regulations
Are tattoos safe? The FDA (Food and Drug
Administration) regulates the
inks in tattoos, but the actual
practice of tattooing is
regulated by local
jurisdictions, such as cities
and counties. That means there
is no standardised certification
for those doing the tattooing
or an overall governing body
supervising the health and
safety of tattoo parlours.
Medication or other
treatment including possible removal of the tattoo might
be needed if you experience an allergic reaction to the tattoo
ink or you develop an infection or other skin problem near a
tattoo. So think before you have a tattoo! It is so important!

Dogs
by Isabella Loukatou
All dogs descended from the wolf. Living near to
man, wolves evolved, became less aggressive and even
began to seek human companionship. Dogs can UNDERSTAND
up to 60 words and gestures where these movements are
often repeated. We can
also understand their
language: when it wags its
tail, it shows that it is
happy. By letting its
owner tickle its tummy, it
acknowledges him as boss.
If it growls, it shows it's
angry.
Dogs have many
assets as well as being very useful. Sheep dogs herd
sheep and trained police dogs find traces of villains. The
dogs of blind people guide them on the road and are
necessary for their movements. Dogs can be man's best
friend.

Christmas in the U.K.

by Eleanna Giareni
In Britain, families celebrate Christmas together. Most families have a tree in their house and decorating is usually
a family occasion. Most villages, towns and cities are decorated with Christmas lights. The most famous Christmas lights in the
UK are in Oxford Street in London. Every year they get bigger and better with the big switch on around the beginning
of November.
Children believe that Santa leaves presents in stockings, hung by the fire or by the bed on Christmas Eve. They
leave out mince pies and whisky for him to eat and drink when he visits them (and carrots for Rudolph) and write him
letters listing their requests.
In Britain the main Christmas meal is usually eaten
early afternoon on Christmas day. Its normally roast
turkey, roast potatoes and 'all the trimmings which means
Brussels sprouts, stuffing and sometimes bacon and
chestnuts. Dessert is often Christmas pudding. Mince pies
and lots of chocolates are often eaten as well! The dinner
table is decorated with a Christmas cracker for each
person. Britain is also famous for Christmas cake. Its
traditionally a rich fruit cake covered with marzipan and icing topped with Christmas themes.

Street Art Today...

by Danai Liaskou
What is street art? Is it vandalism? Is it graffiti? Or is just public art?
Street art can be a tool to communicate
directly with the public. On the other hand
traditional spray-painting is often pure
vandalism or territorial graffiti and makes
an area look untidy and not well kept.
Well, there is no simple definition of street
art yet. From my point of view it is a
democratic way to express feelings and
ideas that are found in or are inspired by
the urban environment. This kind of art is
not limited to the gallery nor easily collected.
Some graffiti can be very powerful. It can be artistic and improve the look of
the area and it can carry an important message. It can be good, depending on
context of course, but other graffiti doesn't deserve our interest
