Introduction
As a manager at a large firm, you understand the challenges
faced by a lack of employee morale, and productivity. Studies
have shown that productivity decreases by 45% on Friday
afternoons from the hours of 2-5 pm.1 This can amount to
hundreds of thousands of dollars throughout the year in lost
revenues. While other strategies have been implemented in the
past, we believe that an improved solution is necessary to meet
the needs of todays workforce. The strategy provided outlines a
free, and useful way to solve the problems you are currently
facing.

Executive Summary
Over the past two weeks, our sales levels on Friday afternoons
have been the lowest of any other four-hour period in the week.
This decline in sales is despite customer traffic being at average
levels during these hours. Our research indicates a decrease in
new customer sales during this time, which is a direct effect of
lowered employee morale, and productivity. Companies who
have implemented the Flexible Friday hours have seen as much
as a 30% increase in sales, as shown in Figure 1. Additionally,
90% of employees who have the ability to take advantage of
flexible work hours have the potential to want to move up within
the company to a position as high as CEO, as shown in Figure 2.
Based on surveys and research conducted, our proposal of
flexible Friday work hours will directly meet the needs of your
firm.

How to make employees love where they

work

Allow employees to create their own Friday schedules

Increase workplace productivity, and employee morale
Create a detailed and comprehensive proposal that
outlines exactly how you will ensure all employee work
is completed in a timely manner

We estimate your firm could eliminate your sales deficit during

the Friday afternoon shift, and increase employee morale by
25% by implementing our strategy of flexible Friday hours.
While our strategy is new, and unique, the benefits have been
proven through testing to accommodate your firm's
needs. Other firms that have implemented our scheme have
seen significant results in a short timeframe since switching
work policies. In 2013, Google was experiencing issues with
productivity in their offices on Friday afternoons. Upon reading
this strategy and implementing it in their workplace Google saw
a 40% increase in productivity during the work week, and saw a
25% decrease in employee turnover for the remainder of the
fiscal year. 4
When employees manage their own schedules, their stress
levels decline, and they focus better on their tasks. According to
a recent study that was focusing on employees in a Fortune 500
company completed by Georgetown University, employee stress
from trying to find time for their children correlates with
decreased productivity and increased absenteeism. The study
found that unplanned absences were costing some businesses
nearly $1 million a year. 5

Conclusion
Implementing flexible Friday hours in the workplace effectively
solves your productivity issues while increasing employee
morale at no cost to your firm. Failure to adjust to the needs of
an evolving workplace could increase employee turnover, and
result in a competitive disadvantage for the firm. It is imperative
that you bring Flexible Fridays to your workplace before March
because the implementation of these new work hours would
