WHY IS GOVERNMENT CLASS IMPORTANT?

As high school seniors you are reaching the pivotal age--18. As a result, it is
important that you know what your rights are as citizens of the United States and
how to critically think about the issues surrounding your local, state, and national
community. My goal in this class is to help you become well informed citizens by
teaching you how our government works and how you can participate in it.
During this second semester we will examine how the Executive and the Judicial
branches function, learn about our state and local governments, as well as
compare the U.S. government to government systems around the world.

LEAVING CLASS:
Students will receive two restroom passes each quarter, a total of four
passes this semester. Students have a seven minute passing period,
please use this time to take care of your needs. In class, use your
passes wisely.

ASSIGNMENTS:
All students are expected to turn in assignments that are completed to the best of
their ability. If I cannot read your writing, the assignment will not be graded.
All homework assignments are to be turned in at the beginning of the hour unless
you are told otherwise. Put them in the basket designated for your class section.
If your paper is not in the basket, it will be assumed that the assignment was not
done on time. PLEASE DO NOT HAND ME ANY PAPERS AND DO NOT PUT THEM ON
MY DESK.
Work that is turned in late will be accepted for partial credit only. No late work
will be accepted later than two weeks after the original due date.
Make-up assignments will be allowed for excused absences only. Make-up work
