Ongoing Professional Learning

Professional Knowledge is the seeming end and Professional

Learning is the seeming means. They are reflective of each other and
complementary. A dedicated teacher who is committed to his or her
students, to the community to leadership, and growth is without a
doubt a teacher who seeks every opportunity to keep up-to-date with
the latest in the learning spectrum, the latest research, technology,
techniques, and information.
As stated in my philosophy, humans seek knowledge from the
cradle to the grave. It is essential of our development, it is part of our
nature, and it is the core of our success in this life and after. Part of
this section on Professional Learning I decided to include a few artifacts
that symbolize and represent my dedication to this field, and
philosophical aspirations. My life has always revolved around
Mathematics and Science, and even during my field placements I
always ended up teaching math. It was one of my favorite subjects in
school and it is still worthy of my admiration and inquiry. Therefore I
have included a certificate from a math conference in Michigan, USA,
which dealt with different aspects of mathematics, pedagogy and
technology in the classroom as related to the field.
Pare of my Learning experience at the Faculty of Education
during the years 2008-2009 were a series of workshops entitled

Professional Learning Series or PLS. I have included a full reflection in

this section of the PLS as well as a certificate of completion from on of
my most favorite workshops entitled Building Futures. On the same
topic, I have included a certificate from my Tribes training, which is a
system of classroom management and instructions, which I have
decided to adopt in my classroom as an educator, due to its
effectiveness. Now I must comment here that the training itself was
mediocre however I fell in love with the idea while seeing it in practice
during my first placement as a student teacher.
While on a placement at Begley Elementary, my most favorite
school, I participated in a series of workshop concentrated on topics
such as: Poverty in relation to academic achievement, Differentiated
Instructions, Media Literacy, and other. I really appreciate the time
that the management in that school dedicated to our Professional
Development, and the dedication and concern for each subject that we
were taught. I was very inspired and motivated, and to reflect that I
have included a certificate that I have received for participating in
such.
I hope that I will continue to move up the ladder of knowledge
and develop my self as an educator and a student. I have intentions
and plans for the future to take AQ courses in Special Education,
Language Arts, ESL and other.
