Symmetrical balance - This image shows symmetrical balance because the

elements are equally distributed on each side of the picture. The photographic
principles used in this photo are symmetry and patterns. There is a use of a lot of
rectangles and lines which are symmetrical. The elements that are together are the
same shape and size they show a pattern. For example, the doors are symmetrical.
Whilst the exit signs are a smaller size and different shape from the doors they still
are showing a pattern of a 4 sided polygon.

Emphasis - This picture displays emphasis because the pop can is the element that
is attracting the most attention to create a focal point for the viewer. The
photographic principles used in this photo are rule of thirds and viewpoint. It is
using rule of thirds since the photo was taken by using this method. Plus, with these
lines it captured the picture in adding more balance and interest. The pop can is
taken from a different angle and thats what makes the picture so interesting. If the
photo was captured with the object in the center it would look like an average and

boring photo. With these photographic principles it captures the viewers eyes with
interest.

Movement This picture displays movement because the element of the stairs is
repeating and is gradually changing in size. The stairs slowly start descending
downwards which creates a feel of movement. The photographic principles used in
this photo are viewpoint and symmetry of pattern. The viewpoint is taken from an
angle showing just a bit of the side of the staircase. While the pattern is of the stairs
descending in a same shape and size. But also, the bricks are symmetrically being
repeated too.

Unity This picture represents the principle unity because it is combining similar
elements into one photograph. Many elements such as the shapes are adding an
effect of unity. The 4 sided shapes are combining together to create an image. Also

leading lines is a photographic principle used to take this photo. The wall leading to
the hand of the staircase is a leading line towards the subject. Which in this case
the subject is the window.

Contrast This picture shows contrast because it is showing a difference between

the 2 colours shown in this image. This picture was taken with the flash on which
resulted of the bright flash making most of the image where the light hit brighter.
Plus, somewhat of the area is black since the flash was not hit towards that
direction. This resulted in a contrast in the image. The photographic principles used
in this picture is rule of thirds. The subject was positioned in a way that the black
contrast area adds interest to the viewer.

Pattern This photo displays pattern because of the same shape and sizes used in
there. The stairs are a repeating element which represents pattern. The square tiles
are being used all over the picture. Also, the metal bars are being used along the
railings which are in the same colour, shape and size. The photographic principle

used for this picture is depth and viewpoint. It shows depth because it shows the
staircase descending further and further down. Also, the picture was captured from
the third level stairs creating an interesting viewpoint of the staircase going down.
