Technology Integration Plan
2. Tech-Pack in Action: Analyze a Scenario
For successful technology integration in your classroom context, you need an
appropriate combination of technological, pedagogical, and context knowledge
(Tech-PACK) for each topic you teach. Read again the Technology Integration
Example that served to illustrate the TIP model in this chapter.
a. Deconstruct Mias Tech-PACK in the following way; Fill in the following matrix
to show what she appears to know and what she will have to learn in terms of
content, technologies, and pedagogies in order to be in her Tech0PACK zone
and in this topic.

What is known
Ex. 2.1:
-will use online project
with partner schools in
other countries
Ex. 2.2:
-The students will use
email and internet skills to
complete activities.
-Mia will use classroom
workstations with
computers and has made
use of the library/media
center.
Ex.2.3:
-Mias students are
enthusiastic about their
chats and email
exchanges.
-The students are grateful
for the use of web
searches because they
helped out a lot.

What must be learned

Ex. 2.1:
-Mia needs to learn about
digital cameras and the
online resource that will
be used in the project.
Ex. 2.2:
-The students must learn
to use project websites to
complete their
assignment.
-Students must learn to
use their project sites, an
internet browser, and
search engines.
Ex.2.3:
-Mia must make sure that
she is familiar with all the
use of digital cameras,
search engines, picture
scanning/downloading, if
she wishes to complete
this assignment in the
future.

Pedagogy

Ex. 2.1:
-Mia will work with the
social studies curriculum.
Ex. 2.2:
-Mia has created a
timeline to outline project
assignment dates.
-She has created
objectives and
instruments to measure
the outcomes.
Ex.2.3:
-Mia was very pleased
with the results of this
new teaching method.

Content

Ex. 2.1:
-Before starting the online
project, Mia knows that
the students do not learn
about different cultures
properly during the
International Food event.
-Mia knows little
information about
cultures.
Ex. 2.2:
-The students have been
provided with extra time
to accurately complete
assignment.
Ex. 2.3:
-The firm deadlines caused
Mia to stress.

Ex. 2.1:
-Mia needs to learn about
the different aspects of
the social studies
curriculum so that she can
meet the students
academic needs.
Ex. 2.2:
-Mia must learn to
accurately use her
timeline and objectives so
that she can complete the
assignment appropriately.
Ex.2.3:
-More time must be given
for the assignment so that
it can be completed.
-Test reviews must be
created to ensure passing
rates of this assignment.
Ex. 2.1:
-Mia must learn what
information is required to
know about different
cultures before she begins
her project.
Ex.2.2:
-The students must be
able to learn about
different cultures.
-The students must learn
to value the extra time
given to them to adapt to
using their project sites.
Ex.2.3:
-The students must learn
to be mindful of their time
given to complete their
assignments.

b. Indentify the context and logistical issues in this situation that she must
address to implement this new strategy effectively in her classroom.

a. Overall, I believed that the strategy she used in her classroom was
successful. However, the amount of passing rates for this assignment
did not seem to be something I liked. I think that next time she decides
to use this strategy she needs to make sure that she is familiar with
everything that she is using. Mia should not have taken a plunge into
an assignment with technology that she did not know how to properly
use because there are certain aspects of technology that can take
months to adapt to. The objectives in this assignment should have
been better explained to the students so that could accurately find all
the information that they need to pass. While the assignment seems
like a very enjoyable activity for students to complete, I believe she
was not ready to implement in her classroom at this time.
