WECOME PARENTS!
Welcome to my 7th grade
Physical Science class. I look
forward to having a great
upcoming year developing your
child into a well-rounded science
student. Ranging from physics to
chemistry, physical science
incorporates many different
aspects of science, and I hope to
give my students a fantastic
school year that will broaden
their interests in the science
field. Physical science is so
exciting for me to teach because
every student finds a certain
aspect of this course in which
they find interesting. Many
teaching tactics that I have
learned throughout my
educational career will increase
your childs success in my class.
Throughout my educational
career, I have found that student
involved hands-on activity allows

to use many hands-on teaching

tactics such as group
experiments and an
incorporation of microscopes
into my teaching. With these
hands-on activities, my students
will have the opportunity to
learn through example, rather
than simply from a verbal
lecture. Lastly, there will be
several guest speakers who
work across the broad range of
physical science fields to give
your child a practical application
of the learned material in this
class. With your childs help, I
plan to make this a successful
and fun year!
COMMON CORE
Within this class, we will range
from general physics to a very
basic idea of cell biology. For
example, some topics within the
physics category will be forces
and motion and their influence
on the world around us. Next we
will discuss basic topics in
biology such as energy
conservation, formation of
energy, and the transfer of
energy from one organism to
another. Lastly, we will discuss
several earth processes, such as
the water cycle. Your child will
have a better understanding of

TECHNOLOGY USES IN CLASS

In my class, I plan to use several

pieces of technology that will
further my students education.
Firstly, I plan to incorporate a
compound microscope into our
studies in order to give my class
a hands-on experience that will
lead to a better understanding of
the material. If the students are
able to personally view
something under a microscope
rather than mentally visualize it,
I believe that they will have a
well-rounded knowledge of the
material. I think that my students
will not only be able to learn
more effectively, but they will
have a more positive and fun
experience in my classroom.
Also, I will be using a document
camera to project various
material to assist my lectures.
Studies have shown that a visual
aid to lectures improve the
retention level of the students. I
believe that a digital projection
of related material is much more
intriguing that simple
handwritten notes on a white
board. A document camera gives
a feeling of interaction between
myself and my students that will
create a better learning
environment for everyone
involved! Through the use of
technology, I plan to enhance
the learning experience for my
students!
