Unit Description
Unit Description This unit teaches the theory and practice of programming and planning
emphasizing how it informs teaching and learning in classrooms. It makes explicit the forms of
methodologies that are underpin pedagogical practices and explores planning and assessment
practiced in contemporary settings.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this unit the student should be able to:
1. Demonstrate relevant developing competency/ies in line with NT-Professional standards
for graduating teachers
2. Know how to assess the learning capabilities of their students and be aware of the
factors that can influence their learning.
3. Understand the contemporary environment of teaching
4. Recognise the role that teachers play in meeting expectations of learners, communities,
employers, parents and other stakeholders
5. Acknowledge the positioning of Indigenous people in the teaching profession
