Problem Statement: To revamp the HR policy of Portman Hotel Company and
increase the moral of the its employees
Causes for the problem statement1. There lacked hierarchy in the Portman company for PVs to be under supervision 2. There no career growth in the company 3. In order to save cost, PVs were instructed to do all the jobs 4. Lack of division of labour 5. Cost cutting led to ignorance of PVs issues 6. Labour Union is not recognized 7. Lack of internal structure in the organization 8. Hiring an external agency for recruitment which could be unable to understand the objectives of the firm. Case Analysis: Portmans Occupancy hit 100% in the month of November. This means that its point of differentiation is working towards increasing its customer loyalty and base. As compared to their competitors they are the only hotel who provide personal service to their customers. This would result in bringing out radical changes in terms of their recruitment policy and in-house HR Policy. Changes like Compensation, overtime pay/facilities, career growth, and employee accountability would have to incorporate in the organization. As the number of employment would increase, their cost overhead would also increase. This would invite additional manpower to supervise the PVs which would result in the change in the structural hierarchy of the organization. This would lead to allocation of manpower in different departments. Also when in a growing phase, Portman Hotel should project itself in such a way that it is the best organization to work with so that it could attract the best talent in the industry.
