What is your building/team goal? My goal for the 2014-2015 school


year is to analyze student data to improve student achievement. This
would include looking at formative and summative assessments of
students and then developing high-yielding teaching and learning
strategies for students with differentiated instruction, and re-teaching so

select this as a need area? Why did you select this as a need area? I
chose this area because I feel like my main focus should be to improve
student achievement in the classroom and data decision making is one of
the most successful ways to do this based on current research.
How does this goal align with district initiatives, building initiatives and
the Iowa Teaching Standards and Criteria? Supports district/building
initiative to increase literacy among all students. This goal aligns with the
Iowa Teaching Standards in the following categories: 1a,b,c,f 2b,d 3a,d
4a,b,c 5a,c,f 7a,b,c 8c,d
What actions will you take to accomplish this professional growth? The
action I will take to accomplish this growth would first be participation in
Professional Learning Communities (data team meetings) at my school.
Secondly, I will use formative and summative assessments in the
classroom and use the data to make decisions on learning and teaching

students will increase their reading comprehension and writing skills in
the 2014-2015 school year focusing on using high-yielding teaching and
learning strategies.

select this as a need area? I chose this area to enhance my growth
because over the past 2 years in our Literacy meetings I have learned
about many successful reading and writing strategies that I was
previously unaware of. I selected this area as a need area because it

accomplish this professional growth I will make sure to use the reading
and writing strategies that I have been taught in Literacy professional
development. Furthermore, I will analyze data and make instructional
based decisions from student data.

What is your personal/professional goal? My personal goal is to use
high-yielding teaching and learning strategies in my classroom in every
lesson that I teach. Specifically I would like to use more of the strategies
we have learned in Literacy professional development.
Why did you choose to enhance your growth in this area? Why did you
select this as a need area? Why did you select this as a need area? I
chose this area because I have used some of the strategies provided to
us. When I have used these strategies they have been highly effective in
engaging students and raising student achievement.

What actions will you take to accomplish this professional growth? To


accomplish this professional growth I will make sure to use all of the
strategies provided to us multiple times throughout the course of the year
and also make sure I am using them on a weekly basis.
What supports do you need to accomplish this goal (time, access to
training, collaboration opportunities, materials, etc)? To accomplish this
goal I am going to need to spend time outside of the classroom
collaborating with other teachers and preparing lesson plans to determine
which strategies will work best with what I am teaching at the particular
