Social Insurance Programs

Both social insurance programs such as Social Security and Medicare are both of
high importance in America. Social Security is for the elderly and had been
established in 1935 to provide retirement income support. Although Social Security
doesnt pay for the full cost of retirement, it is meant to pay for some. Federal
Insurance Commissions Act aids Social Security by producing funds through a
payroll tax placed on both employers and employees. Since America is growing in
population within the elderly range, many problems have been arising. An idea of
Medicare was established in 1935, but was fully conducted in 1964. Medicare can
consist of three categories: Part A pays for some of the bill, nursing for a bit after
being in the hospital, and for everyone 65 and over, Part B requires payment and
aids in paying doctors when they use specialized equipment, x-rays, or tests, and
part D which pays for a portion of prescription drugs for the elderly. 1 Medicare had
achieved much success but is becoming more difficult to pay off. However last
summer of 2014 there were supposed improvements in Medicare because of the
Affordable Care Act, but Social Security is still not doing so good. Because of the
slowdown in the spending of national health due to the ACA, that is the reason for
Medicares newly established stance in social insurance programs. However it is
believed that these significant changes will not last long, as future costs are
estimated at rising within the next couple of years. 2
Foreign Policy Summary
After the Cold War, one of the most significant and dangerous problems to arise had
been that of dealing with weapons of mass destruction. In the year of 2002
President Bush had declared that Iraq, Iran, and North Korea were all highly possible
creating weapons of mass destruction. However Iraq should have been left out as
they had not created any weapons of mass destruction neither had it had a nuclear
base. The countries of North Korea and Iran both posed an impending threat
because it is highly possible that they can and will create this technology in the
near future.3 These weapons could possibly be supplied by Russia, because after the
Cold War, they had no need for the 10,000 weapons of mass destruction which they
had saved in threat to America. The new war erupting in the Ukraine could involve
such weapons of destruction. As it is evident that Russia is struggling under the pact
created between America and Russia during Reagan and Gorbachevs time.
Apparently Moscow has already violated 5 of the terms underneath that policy and
could possibly break more urging more tension between the Ukraine, U.S. and

Russia. It is highly possible that if Russia continues to persist the Ukraine in such a
way, World War Three could be likely to develop soon. Vladimir Putin of Russia is
very eager to construct Russia back to its original formation which is why he is so
eager to destroy the order in the Ukraine to restore his order. 4
