Changes to Airline Transport Pilot

Test Requirements

H. Dan Hill, founder and CEO of Mach One Air Charters, is a Certified
captain on seven types of jet aircraft and has earned ratings on a total of
nine types of heavy Transport Aircraft. H. Dan Hill has also served as an
Airline Transport Pilot examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration's
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) qualification test.
To receive an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, a candidate must
complete a written knowledge test. As of August 2014, there are two basic
requirements for the ATP licenses. You must pass a rigid written exam and
pass a Practical Flight test. There is an age restriction and flight hour
requirements as well to qualify for the exams.
Candidates who passed their knowledge test have two years from the
examination date to complete the practical test required to pilot an aircraft
that requires an ATP licenses. If this window expires, the candidate needs
to complete a new training program and re-sit the knowledge test.
