Reading and Language Arts

This month we are continuing to learn about Cause and Eect, Main
Ideas and Details, Story Structure, and Sequencing. We are also learning
about what synonyms are, how to use punctuation, and how to write and
speak in complete sentences.
Math
Unit 2 has begun! We have been busy having fun in math and learning
dierent methods to add 2-digit numbers! Many students have even been
asking for math homework every night! Wow! Unit two also involves
demonstrating the knowledge of place value, money, and proving our
answers to math problems. !
Writing
We are finishing up our Personal Narrative Writing unit! Students have
been working hard to write stories about moments in their lives; including
a beginning, middle, and end with details. The next concept that we will
be working on will be Informative Writing.!
Social Studies and Nutrition
We began studying the History of La Crosse in Social Studies last week!
We have brand new informational texts equipped with real photographs,
text features, and interesting facts and information! There are six chapters
and we will do the first two chapters.!
After our two chapters of social studies, we will begin Nutrition! It will
cover eating healthy and taking care of our bodies and minds! We will
discuss what foods and beverages to eat, the importance of exercise and
physical activity; as well as hobbies and other activities that make us
happy!
