Globe Valves.
Globe valves are used for throttling, which is to control the flow. As the fluid
passes through the valve it has to change direction. Even in the fully open
position, a globe valve offers much more resistance to the flow than a gate
valve. Globe valve seats are parallel to the line of flow. The disc has only a
small amount of movement, which makes them easy to turn off. Globe valves
also come in a right-angle shape which is called an angle valve. (see figure
10).
