POINT

A point specifies only location; it has no length, width, or depth. We usually

represent a point with a dot on paper, but the dot we make has some dimension,
while a true point has dimension 0.
An example of a point in the real world is an eclipse, which occurs when the moon
totally or completely blocks out the sun. A partial eclipse is more common than a full
eclipse; full eclipses dont occur that often.

SKEW LINES

Two nonparallel lines in space that do not intersect are

called skew lines.
An example of a skew line is in a bridge.

ANGLE

The figure formed by two lines diverging from a common

point.
The figure formed by two planes diverging from a common
line. A place you may find an angle is on a bike frame.

A STRAIGHT ANGLE

A straight angle is an angle with 180 degrees.

An example of a straight angle is in a skate park- there are
many different types of rails to skate on, but some are
straight.

RIGHT ANGLE

A acute angle is an angle that measures less than 90

degrees.
You can see a acute in slice of pizza - slices are often cut
into acute angles.

COLLINEAR POINTS

Collinear points are three or more points that lie on the

same line.
An example of collinear points is a tree branch- the 'base
branch' is the line, and every branch sprouting out of the
base is a point. Pictured here is a cherry blossom branch.

RIGHT ANGLE

Definition: An angle that mesaures exactly 90 degrees.

An example of a 90 degreeee angle is the corner of a book.

CONGRUENT SEGMENTS

Line segments that have the same length.

An example ofcongruent segments is in the road linesOften the yellow and white lines are the same length.

SEGMENT BISECTOR

A point, ray, line, line segment, or line that intersects at its

midpoint.
An example of this is in a cross.

PERPENDICULAR BISECTOR

A line which cuts a line segment into two equal parts at 90

degrees.
An example of where you may perpendicularcular bisector
is at a three way intersection - andding the third way on
makes a T shape.

OBTUSE ANGLE

An angle that measures more than 90 degrees, but less

than 180.
An example of an obtuse angle in real life is a lawn chair- if
someone was laying in the sun they would be reclined back,
right?

SEGMENT

Each of the parts into which something is or may be divided

.
An segment is in an orange - and a whole orange can be
divided into about 8 pieces, each piece called a segment.

COPLANAR LINE SEGMENTS

A multitide of lines laying on the same plane.

An example of coplanar line segments is in train tracks they are two lines on the same ground.

MIDPOINT OF A SEGMENT

A midpoint is the point of a line segment that is halfway in

between the line.
An example of a midpoint of a segment is a chinese yo yo.
This can be found in novelty gift shops.

CONGRUENT ANGLES

2 angles of the same shape and size.

An example of congruent angles is on a butterflies wingsbutterfly wings are normally obtuse angles, and are also the
same shape and size.
