In the upcoming weeks, your child will explore our unit of Survival. Students will be introduced to Through many interactive lessons that involve hands-on learning, your child will build an understanding in the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Using the theme of survival, your child will acquire many skills in these specific subject areas. Listed below are the topics covered in each subject: Language Arts use precise language and domain specific vocabulary to inform about or explain the topic interpret information presented visually, orally, or quantitatively explain how the information contributes to an understanding of the text in which it appears explain major differences between poems, and refer to the structural elements of a poem Mathematics multiplying two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers pinpointing domain specific words in a story problem Science classify organisms as part of a food chain independently construct a food chain mobile Social Studies identify the organizational structure of federal government in the United States explain how power is separated amongst the branches of federal government specific vocabulary in the form of a written letter Parent involvement is encouraged and appreciated for different areas of this unit.
