Senate Democrats Cannot Even Pass A Minimum Wage Increase

Santa Fe, NM In yet another example of political gridlock, the New Mexico State Senate cannot even
find common ground to raise the state's minimum wage. Even though Senate Democrats have called for
raising the minimum wage, today they voted down a bill by their colleague Sen. Clemente Sanchez that
would have raised it to $8.30 per hour.
"That Senate Democrats would claim to be champions of raising the minimum wage and then vote against
it proves that they are far more interested in political games than working on behalf of the people, said
Pat Garrett, a spokesman for the House Majority.
