Cascaded Systems: RC Coupled Amplifiers

CONCLUSION
In RC coupled amplifiers, the capacitive coupling capacitor and the load on the
first stage serve as the RC coupling. The input impedance of the second stage acts as a
load on the first stage. The RC coupling connects the output of the first stage of the
amplifier to the input, specifically the base of the second stage. Any signal applied in the
input is amplified in the first stage and will be further amplified in the second stage of the
amplifier. The coupling capacitor isolates the two stages from a dc viewpoint but acts as a
short-circuit equivalent for the ac response.

Frequency Analysis Voltage Divider (Output at the Emitter and Collector)

CONCLUSION
The frequency of the applied signal can have a pronounced effect on the response
of a single-stage or multistage network. Frequency analysis is used to determine the cutoff frequency for a certain circuit. By this we can control the frequency that we should
input in the circuit to avoid clamping of the output. The frequency response is affected by
the capacitance associated in the circuit. The coupling and bypass capacitors selected for
the network limits the low frequency response of the system. These elements can no
longer be replaced by short-circuit approximation in low frequencies because of the
increase in their reactance. They are essentially short circuits in the mid and high bands.
The frequency-dependent parameters of the small-signal equivalent circuit of the device,
the interelectrode (between-terminals) capacitances internal to the active device, and the
wiring capacitance between leads of the network on the other hand are the factors that
limits the high frequency response. The capacitances of importance in high frequency
response are essentially open circuits in the low and mid bands.
