Adjective
Adjective-a word or phrase naming an attribute, added to or grammatically
related to a noun to modify or describe it. (Bitter , Fluffy , Blue)

Adverb

Adverb-a word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other a

dverb or a word group, expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance,
manner, cause, degree, etc. (Financially, Willfully, Abruptly)

Articles
Article-Articles define a noun as specific or unspecific.(When Mr. Arable
returned to the house half an hour later, he carried a carton under his arm)

Santa Clause

Clause-Clauses are units of grammar that contain at least one predicate and a
subject.(For example, in the sentence, 'My dog loves pizza crusts,' the subject
is dog, the verb is loves and your reader now knows that 'your dog loves pizza
crusts,' making it a complete thought.)

Collective Noun

Collective Noun-a noun that denotes a group of individuals.(A class of

students,An Army of Soldiers , A group of dancers.)

Common Noun
Common Noun-a noun denoting a class of objects or a concept as opposed to
a particular individual.(Where did you park your car? What kind of car do you
have?)

Definitive Article

Definitive Article-a determiner that introduces a noun phrase and implies that
the thing mentioned has already been mentioned, or is common knowledge, or
is about to be defined. (the)

Gerund

Gerund-a form that is derived from a verb but that functions as a noun.(They
cut down elms to build asylums for people driven mad by the cutting down of
elms.)

Interjection

Interjection-In grammar, an interjection or exclamation may be a word used to

express an emotion or sentiment on the part of the speaker (Oh no!, Ouch!,
Wow!)

Linking Verb

Linking Verb-A linking verb connects the subject with a word that gives
information about the subject, such as a condition or relationship.(William is
excited about his promotion.)

Noun
Noun-a word used to identify any of a class of people, places, or things.
(Happiness , Anger , Bigotry)

Preposition

Preposition-A preposition generally, but not always, goes before its noun or
pronoun.(As , At , But , By)

Pronoun

Pronoun-a word that can function by itself as a noun phrase and that refers
either to the participants in the discourse or to someone or something
mentioned elsewhere in the discourse.(I might see you later , He makes me
angry)

Proper Noun

Proper Noun-a name used for an individual person, place, or organization,

spelled with initial capital letters(I know not with what weapons World War III will
be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.)

Verb

Verb-a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the
main part of the predicate of a sentence.(Add , Drop , Hang)
