INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION EYE PROTECTION which conforms to ANSI specifications and provides protection against flying particles both from the front and side should always be worn by the operator and others in the work area when loading, operating or servicing the tool. Eye protection is required to guard against flying fasteners and debris, which could cause severe eye injury. The employer andor user must ensure that proper eye protection is worn. Eye protection equipment must conform to the requirements of the American National Standards Institute ANSI 287.1 and provide both frontal and side protection. NOTE: Non-side shield spectacles and face shield alone do not provide adequate protection. & WARNING ‘Always disconnect the air supply from the tool when operation has been completed or suspended, when moving to a different work area, adjusting, disassembling, or repairing the tool, and when clearing a jammed fastener. LOADING A COIL OF NAILS 1. Open the magazine Pull down door latch and swing door open. Swing magazine cover open. > Door lath 2. Check adjustment: ‘The nail support can be moved up and down to four settings. To change setting pull up on the post and twist to the correct step. The nail support should be adjusted correctly to the position indicated in inches ‘and milimeters inside the magazine. 3. Load the Coil Nails: Place a coll of nails over the postin the magazine. Uncoll enough nails to reach the feed pawl, and place the second nail between the teeth on the feed paw ‘The nail heads fon nose. 4. Swing Cover Closed 5. Close the Door ‘Check that latch engages. (If it does not engage, check ‘that the nail heads are in the slot on the nose) Koop hands and body away from the discharge outlet when driving the fasteners because ‘of danger of hitting the hands or body by mistake. DIRECTIONAL EXHAUST COVER - For Models 3225 and 5325 only. Loosen screw as shown. Adjust to desired exhaust direction and tighten screw. ‘TWO TYPES OPERATION FOR THIS SERIES TOOL, CONTACT TRIP ‘The common operating procedure on “Contact Trip” tools is for the operator to contact the work piece to actuate the trip mechanism while keeping the trigger pulled, thus driving a fastener each time the work piece is contacted. This will allow rapid fastener placement on ‘many jobs, such as sheathing, decking and pallet assembly. All pneumatic tools are subject to recoil when driving fasteners. The tool may bounce, releasing the trip, and if unintentionally allowed to recontact the work surface with the trigger still actuated (finger stil holding trigger pulled) an unwanted second fastener will be driven. oe MODEL IDENTIFICATION CONTACT TRIP Identified by black trigger SEQUENTIALTRIP The Sequential Trip requires the operator to hold the tool against the work Piece before puling the tigger. This makes accurate fastener placement easier, for instance on framing, te nailing and crating applications. The Sequential Tip Tool allows exact fastener location without the possibilty of driving a second fastener on recoil, as described under ‘Contact Trip’. ‘The Sequential Trp Too! has a positive safety advantage because it will not accidently drive a fastener ifthe tol is contacted against the work surface or anything else, while the operator is holding the trigger pulled MODEL IDENTIFICATION SEQUENTIAL TRIP Identified by nickel plated (bright finish) trigger. 4. AIR SYSTEMS: For ait-powered tools to work their best, the air supply system must be properly installed and maintained regularly. A drawing in this section shows a properly installed air supply syste Handy checklists for installing and maintaining air supply systems follow. Indoor Air System Installation -Be certain that: © All pipes supplying air have a large enough inside diameter to ensure adequate air supply. ©The main supply pipe slopes down, away from the compressor (1/16 inch per foo). © pir storage is provided along lengthy air lines. © Pipe line branch outlets are at the top of the ‘main pipe line. © Cutoff valves are provided at each branch pipe line throughout the system. © Water legs extend from the bottom of each branch line. © A refrigerant-type dryer is installed on the system. © Air hoses are kept as short as practical. © 4 regular maintenance program is followed. Outdoor Air System Installation -Be certain that: © A moisture trap and a filter/regulator/ubricator are installed at the compressor. © Air hoses and fittings are large enough so that air flow is not restricted. Minimum hose size is 3/8 inch ID with 1/2 inch ID hose used for any application over 25 feet. ® Air hoses are not longer than 150 feet. © The air system is lubricated regularly. ® A regular maintenance program is followed. Filter/Regulator/Lubricator Units Filter/regulator/lubricator units that can supply ‘enough air and protection for Paslode tools must meet the following specifications: © Minimum 3/8 inch NPT port size © 50 micron or fine filters. © Regulated pressure from zero to 120 psi. © Lubricators designed for low or changing airflow. MAIN LINE (CUT-OFF VALVE BRANCH LINE Ma" 1D OR LARGER Sie" CUT-OFF VALVE / FiLTeR REGULATOR | WATER LEG DRAIN DAILY UNLESS FITTED WITH AN AUTOMATIC DRAIN AIR SYSTEMS - Continued Calculating Compressor Size Paslode tools are designed to operate efficiently between 70 and 100 psi and should never be operated at pressure greater than 100 psi ‘The air consumption chart will help you find the correct compressor size for your application that will quickly replenish tool air pressure. [AIR CONSUMPTION CHART| g 22 B AIR CONSUMPTION-SCFM/EASTENER 2 g BOB a a 70 © 0 AIR PRESSURE. [ps] ‘00 10 To use the chart you will need to know how many tools will be used and approximately how many fasteners will be driven each minute by each tool on the line. Using the equation: ‘Number of tools X average fasteners/minute/too! X 1.2 (safety factor) X air consumption (scfm) @ pressure" (psi) = scim required. “This number is found in the Air Consumption Chart We can use the following example using the '5325/CN8O: 8 tools X 29 fasteners/minute/tool X 1.2 X 0.071 scfm (@100psi) = 19.77 scfm. In this example, using the air consumption chart we find that a compressor providing at least 10 scfm of air is required. Because in compressors approximately 1 hp is required to produce 4 scim, a ‘compressor of at least 3 hp is required. Calculated Required Piping For example, given a 20 hp electric compressor supplying approximately 80 cfm of air at 120 psi and a ‘main supply pipe length of 360 feet, we see by the table the minimum main pipe inside diameter required for this application is 1-1/4 inch, fvouume| LENGTH OF RUN (FT) (OF AIR | 50200 20-500 500-1000_100-2800_ 2500 000 (CFM) NOMINAL PIPE DIAMETER (IN.) 060 | 1 1 Mee oro} 1% Mme 2 2 100-200] 1% 1% 2 ee 200500] 2 2% 39 % Mh 1500-1000] 2% 3 MeN Note: Compressed air (60-100 psi) Pneumatic System Maintenance - Be certain that: © Pneumatic fitings are tight and do not leak. © Water legs, filters and airlines are drained daily, and ‘ensure that automatic draining systems are operating correctly. © Air lines are cleared to prevent freezing, especially in winter. ® Lubricator operation is checked regularly and ensure ithas an adequate supply of lubricant. (Paslode Part No. 219026) © The fiter element is cleaned every six months. * Only regulated air is being used and that each regulator is operating properly. 3225/CN55 405300 PARTS LEGEND 3225/CN55, 405300 1 405912 1 Screw Ma x20 51 405422 1 Straight Pin 161 2 4054891 Exhaust Cover Holder 52 4054731 Contact Lever +3 405494 1 O-Ring 594054721 Trigger 4 4050721 Exhaust Cover 54 4054171 Rol Pin3x16 5 4059671 Exhaust Filter 55 405952 1 Contact Arm Guide 6 405971 1 Exhaust Cover Seal 58 405954 1 Contact Arm Cover.8 7 405906 1 ScrewMOx 25 57 40546 1 Compression Spring 3256 8 405300 1 Protector 58 405965 1 Contact Arm Unt 9 405964 1 Cylinder Cap Unt +59 4054581 O-Ring 40 4054571 Gyiinder Cap Seal +60 405449 «1 O-Ring 11 4059681 SpacerExnaust 61 4050551 Nose 42 405979 1 Piston Stop 62 4050041 ScrewMex 22 13 4054691 Compression Spring 3578 63405414 1 Rubber Washer7 14 405981 1 Head VaWve Washer 64 4054281 —‘StopPin 1501 “154054981 O-Ring 65 405320 1 Dust Cover Hook “6 405444 «1 O-Ring 65 4059631 Dust Cover 17 405985 1 Head Valve Piston 67 4053181 DoorLaten 18 405982 1 Cylinder Seal 68 4054611 Compression Spring 3123, +18 405351. 1 Main Piston Unit 69 4054601 Compression Spring 3109 "20405420 1 O-Ring 70 405962 1 Check Paw! 21 40549 1 Gylinder 71 4059611 Door "224054991 O-Ring 72 1624981 Roll Pin 3x12 23 405950 1 Check Valve 734054291 Step Pin 1502 24 4059231 Cylinder Ring 74 4054701 _Torsion Spring 3058 125 405448 «1 O-Ring 75 4053861 ‘Feed Paw!
