Genocide is a major deal and

people don't know it

Written by Justin Hailey
Every year more and more people are killed
by gruesome genocides across the globe and
people dont even know what the word
genocide is. In 1994 there was nearly a
million people killed in Rwanda all because
of their race and heritage ("Rwanda
genocide 20 years later"). This is considered
a genocide. A genocide is "any acts
committed with intent to destroy in whole or
in part a national, ethnical, racial, or religion
group" (Gunter) and most people around the
globe dont know what genocide means
which is a problem.

Where
According to Michael Gunter Genocide has
happened throughout history like Hitlers
attempt at exterminating the Jewish religion
or the settlers and the Native Americans.
Now its happening in places like Bosnia,
Burundi, Iraq, Darfur, and Rwanda and other
places too.

Past Genocide
In 1994 civilian violence in the east African
nation of Rwanda claimed the lives of
800,000 people ("Rwandan genocide") this
is known as the Rwandan genocide.
According to Rwandan genocide theyre
president was one of the estimate of 800,000
people. The local leaders didnt step. In at
all in fact they encouraged the killing of all
the people ("The Rwandan Genocide"). Now
just imagine that a group of people just
started shooting all of us down and the
president and the military cheered them on.

There are people out there trying to prevent

what is going on though and theyre making
some progress. The REF also known as the
Rwandan Patriot Front was able to drive the
genocide out and end the genocide in
Rwanda ("Rwanda Genocide: 20 Years

Later").

Current Genocides
One of the major groups that are causing
genocides today are the terrorist group ISIS.
ISIS is armed with stolen U.S. weapons and
are led with experienced officers from Iraqs
army (Bombing ISIS is a start). ISIS has
been causing thousands of deaths just
throughout the past year in the Middle East.
Theyre even trying to get in to the U.S. and
start attacking us. And tons of people are
starting to join their so called cause.
Everyday more and more people are joining
their cause and their cause has reached
levels of genocide and they need to be
stopped.
With ISIS trying to get into America we
could be next. Luckily though they are a
small group for now and poor and we have a
strong military and money. If we attack now
and destroy them while their small we can
get rid of them forever as soon as possible
Obama must face ISIS directly (Bombing

ISIS is a start) but they keep growing with

more and more with Europeans fighting for
them more than 2,500 Europeans are
fighting for ISIS in Syria. (Bew). Thats why
we must act now before its too late.
Airstrikes from an international location
led by the U.S. have driven ISIS out of some
territory in Iraq and Syria, but the group has
continued to dominate, and some military
experts are calling for ground troops
(Action against ISIS?). This shows that
military experts are calling for a ground
attack but Obama wont listen. This might
mean that we have to send more soldiers to
the Middle East but we can quickly drive
them out and end ISIS.
Many people would say that genocide
doesnt matter its not happening in this
country and it never well. Well their wrong
with ISIS growing and The U.S. not taking
the proper approach to the rise of ISIS.
There could be a holocaust part 2 only
instead of Jewish people Americans.
