Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to apply for a teaching position as an elementary level teacher. I have experience working with different
grade levels, in alignment with the Georgia Common Core curricula. I have earned a Master of Arts in Education
/Elementary Teacher from University of Phoenix with a GPA of 3.84 and I am certified in the state of Georgia. I have
over 5 years of classroom experience. I am dedicated to providing all students with an excellent education. I have
strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into well-rounded, responsible and successful
personalities.
My last position at Simonton Elementary School was a Science Specials teacher for third to fifth grade levels. I had
an opportunity to expose students to hands-on lessons that engaged the scientific process skills; this involved
investigation and discovery. Students were able to keep alive their natural curiosity and develop their scientific traits,
critical thinking, persistence, open-mindedness, focus and cooperation. While student teaching in first grade, I taught
guided reading groups that focused on recognizing, analyzing and manipulating letter-sound relationships using
context and structural analysis. Students used their genre knowledge, while integrating and reflecting on a wide
range of comprehension strategies, by constructing meaning from text. I also had the opportunity to assess students
ability to read frequency words and tracked their progress within a three months period. I have experience teaching
math using a wide range of instructional strategies to accommodate a wide range of students. Students used
manipulatives, technology and illustrative materials in their daily learning regime. The various instructional strategies
provided lower level students, visual and kinesthetic learners with differentiated learning opportunities that improved
their arithmetic skills.
Throughout the course of my teaching experience I have had great opportunities to teach diverse groups of students,
including ESOL, those who performed below grade level, at grade level and those who were exceptionally gifted.
This has helped me be more proficient in designing creative and stimulating lesson plans; which accommodate
multiple-intelligence. Encouraged the use of technology, bringing a hands-on approach to learning; keeping students
focused and interested. My goal is to motivate students in discovering their unique abilities, inner strength and
provide learning that will stimulate diverse interest; as well as demonstrate connections between classroom and
everyday life.
Along with my diverse skills, I will bring a creative, positive energy to the school, willingness to work well with others
in order to achieve a common goal. In my previous positions I have demonstrated excellent time management,
prioritization; multi-tasking and demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to learning new things. I am confident that I
will quickly become a valuable member of your team.
