TASK 2 : Reflective essay

This story opens our eyes to the conflicts and the problems faced by
children nowadays.We are able to see these problems from the childrens
point of view.Hence, we get to know and understand them better.
The little girl in the story was cruel and unkind to animals because she
killed all the butterflies in her story.The girl was very naive, so she did not
know right from wrong.It was based on her perception and things happening
around her.
The way the grandmother ready for her granddaughter to school show
that she was a stern and an old hand lady.She was also very concerned about
her granddaughters learning progress in school.She would not scold her
granddaughter eventhough she found out her granddaughter was an unkind
child.
The teacher was a calm and patient person.She explained clearly to her
pupils why butterflies should not be killed.She was an optimistic person.She
tried to convey a good message to the pupils in her teaching so that they
would be kind to animals.
After reading this story, I have learnt that the mind of each child is
pure.They are innocent and simple.They do not know how to differentiate right
from wrong. Unfornatutely, adults always punished them when they do wrong.
I have come across similar actions of children. They killed ants or other
insects around them. I never punish them. I would give them some advises.
As parents or educators, it is their responbility to make their children learn

how to differentiate right from wrong. Most of the pupils nowadays take drugs
and smoke because of their curiousity. Therefore parents and educators have
to educate them on the harmful effects of taking drugs and smoking on their
health. In addition, they should be good role models to their children.
