Section 4: Goals

Long Term Goals

What do I
need to get
there
1. Personal
Skills

Where do I want to be
at the end of this year?
I am aiming to have an
atar of 80+ but also have
my car by then end of the
year and keeping up with
my part time job plus
sporting requirements.
To get my atar of 80+ I
am going to have to show
a large amount of focus to
study and keep on track,
as I tend to lack in focus
as I stray off course and
procrastinate. Also need
to build skills of time
management as I tend to
have poor scheduling and
leave things to the last
minute.
Also the fact that I have
multiple sporting
requirements like training
and games 3 times a
week. And working out 34 times as well. Including
my part time job, which
takes up time as well. So

Where do I want to be
next year?
Next year I want to be a
Curtin university in either
one of my options for my
desired career. As well as a
good job to save up and go
travelling.
To get to university I of
course have to get my 80+
atar but also make sure I
follow the right steps in
applying to university and
make sure I have a career I
am interested in as Im not
quite sure what I want to do.
So decisions making skills
will be important especially
in the up and coming future.
Self-management skills
cause very soon my
schedule will be very full and
I not only need to juggle
everything but have a
balanced mental state. So
skills such as goal setting,
time management and selfevaluation will be very

time management is very

important.

Learning and
work
information,
skills and
knowledge

What
challenges
might I face
in achieving
my goals

Working at a part time job

is very important as well
as it gives me the life
skills I need such as
independence, money
handling and working for
my money.
To get the atar I want I of
course will need to
develop study but getting
rid of bad habits such as
distractions and watching
TV as they dont provide a
suitable environment to
learn in. Also going over
previous exams and tests
that I have done will help
me fill gaps in my
knowledge.
Also going over previous
exam papers will help me
get a better
understanding of what I
will be facing. Also
organising my papers in
an efficient filing system
will help me right better
notes and find info faster
increasing my learning
efficiency.
My main challenge is
being overwhelmed with
the workload while trying
to keep up my social,
work and sporting
requirements. Perhaps
forcing me to give in or
loose track of my main
goals.

important as they will all

assist in helping me balance
my busy schedule but make
sure I right the correct
decisions in what I want to
do with my career and social
life.

To help get into university I

can use the school to give
me information packets and
careers insights to help me
decide what
university/career I truly
desire. Also online test used
in previous career and
enterprise to help narrow
down a career that I would
be most optimal in. While
getting assistance from the
VET coordinator or learning
support officer.

Of course a challenge of
getting into university is
getting the correct atar and
not achieving this will most
likely mean I wont get into
university. Ways around this
is a bridging course or tafe
to get a diploma but if this
challenge does occur I most

result or a unexpected
event may occur I just
have to hope my
resilience or my
perseverance overcomes
this with the support of
my family and friends to
help me along when I

knowledge plus also if I

be assisted by my parents
to make sure Im keeping

self-management skills
need to be developed, as
they will do only one

while helping me achieve
my goals.

Short Term Goals

Plan

Act

Resources

When do I want to
achieve them by?
Having my subject final
scores over 60% at the
end of the term

How am I going to
do this?
To do this note taking
will be important not
just writing down
everything but also
summarising to make it
easier on my schedule
and me.
Summarising my notes
quickly and efficiently
will also let me to get
the right amount of
relaxation and sleep as
well cause this is
important.
Studying for up and
coming tests to make
sure I fill any gaps in
my knowledge

Getting fit and being

able to run 3ks in
under 15 minutes by
the start of 2nd
semester

Who or what can

help me?
To help me with this I
can use my course
outlines to help
summaries my notes
for example the
syllabus points. Using
textbooks to answer or
summarise these
points will assist as
well.
Also teacher feedback
is important as they
give the you a
perspective that is
more important than
anyone elses as they
are there to help you
learn.

To do this of course I
am going to have to
train with consistency
and slowly build my
way up to get to my
goal.

Going over practice

tests or textbook
questions can help me
fill gaps in my
knowledge or on areas
Im not quite sure
about.
I can use my football
coach to push me and
keep me on track to
reach my goal by
giving me challenges
to overcome.

Also eating well will

assist me as staying
healthy is not only
good for running but in
all aspects of life.

My parents can supply

me with healthy food
and make sure Im not
eating any junk food I
shouldnt be.

Lastly will be getting

enough sleep as I want

be able to run at my
best when Im tired.
Save up enough money To do this I am going to
for my car by my 18th
have to keep an eye on
birthday
my spending. So now
pointless or impulsive
buys cause every bit
counts.
Also picking up an
extra shift on
weekends will keep me
from spending it when I
go out and earning at
the same time will help
a lot.

To help me with this my

parents can help me
save and give me any
financial advice even if
it is minor.
Also just a little bit of
self-control to stop
myself.

Section 5: Affirmations
I believe this plan is realistic and suitable for me because: Its within
my limits but also challenges me at the same time. Also as I am
determined to go to university and have always wanted to be a
university student it suits me perfectly while also being realistic goal.

Review: Did I get my 80+ atar? And what university did I

get into? Who am I still friends with? How fit am I? And
what car do I own?

I will review my short-term goals in 6 months and my long-term goals

in one year.
