Biome : The!

Arctic!
Introduction
The Arctic is a very cold region.
It is a part of the Arctic Tundra.
The Arctic Tundra is in the
northern
part of the Northern Hemisphere where
it is usually snowing during winter and
sometimes all year round. In Winter, the
Arctic temperature can be below
-50C(-58F) and in summer it can be
around -10C to 10C(14F to 50F). The
North Pole is another name for the
Arctic.
At night, the Arctic has a very
beautiful light in the sky. It is
called the Arctic Light
(Northern lights).
The Arctic is an essential place
to this planet so we should
protect it at all costs.

Despite the Frigid Cold Climate, there are lots of living things in
the Arctic. The apex predator (apex means top) is the Polar Bear,
nothing can defeat it except for humans and other Polar Bears.
There are some birds that live in the Arctic too. Atlantic PufPins
and Arctic Terns are two types of them.

Polar Bears eat beluga whales and seals. Their leftovers are
Pinished by the Arctic Fox. The Arctic Tern and the Atlantic PufPin
eats small Pish and crustaceans in the ocean.

Plants sometimes cannot be found in the Arctic due to the severe

coldness but there are still some small plants. Most plants are
small in the Arctic so the cold wind doesn't interfere with them.
Lichen and Moss is the food to most of the herbivores in the
Arctic. Arctic hares eat both lichen and moss and some other
plants like arctic willows and cottongrass.

Threats of the
Arctic
There are many threats to the
Arctic.
Global Warming is the main problem.

Car emissions from humans make carbon dioxide which go into

the atmosphere. Once in the Atmosphere it will mostly merge
into the atmosphere. The CO2 is like plastic wrap, because the
sun rays go through it but mostly cant get out, meaning that
Earth will be heating up a lot more than usual.
It is estimated that in 2100, the
average world temperature will
be around 4C higher and in 2200
it will be double that.

If the Arctic is gone, then the sea

level will rise, then some cities
will be under the sea.

The Arctic Food Chain is essential

to all living things in the Arctic
because if one thing is extinct, all animals will become extinct.
When they become extinct, the ecosystem of the Arctic will be
unstable and might collapse and the Arctic ice melting.

Since the Ice is melting, most Arctic animals will lose their
!
habitat, and might not adapt to the warmness of other biomes!

How can I help the Arctic?!

If the Arctic is melting, the risk of harming other biomes is
extensive, so we should protect this biome at all costs.!

One way is to stop emitting too much CO2. Try to turn off your
your electric appliances when not using them. That way you
will be able to both save energy and have a cheaper electric
bill.!

Trees are important to the Arctic as it keeps the CO2 and

Oxygen level stable. The more we cut down trees the more
CO2 goes into the air, thus the ice melting. So we should try
to use less paper and use more digital writing.!

If whales were removed, Polar Bears will have a lot less to

eat, meaning they would die out. When the Polar Bears die
out, Arctic Foxes can't feed on scraps left by Polar Bears, so
they die out. So we should hunt less whales and other things
that a Polar Bear eats.!

SO we should save the Arctic from risks of melting and stand

a chance at survival.!
