Digging Site Facts and Opinions

Badwater Basin Facts and Dangers
:
We are digging in Badwater Basin because it is -86 miles below sea level. The dangers we face
while we are digging is the sand caving in on us, another danger is the heat, even though we will be
inside of a machine that has AC, we still have a chance of getting a stroke and we can get
dehydrated if we run out of water, which is nearly impossible, unless something really bad
happens.

Challenges and Variables:

Some challenges that we might face is hitting Earth's crust because it is made up of rocks and metal
formed together, another challenge we will be facing is the machine breaking down, therefore we
are bringing rescue pods

Going Through the Earth

While we go through the Earth, we expect to find a lot of rocks, minerals and metal in the Crust
because it is formed by metal and rock. In the Mantle we expect to find gems and iron. In the Core,
which we probably wouldn't be able to get to, we could find metal like silver and nickel.

Bad Water Basin,California

The place that we are doing is Bad Water Basin in California. Bad water basin is 282 feet/855
meters below sea level. Bad Water Basin is in Death Valley in California. Bad Water Basin is 282 feet
below sea level and will be a really good place to dig. Even though it is very hot in Death Valley we
could use materials to help us keep cool. We will dig at night because it will be slightly colder than if
we were to do it in the middle of the day. We could also take shifts everyday so everyone doesnt get
tired and doesnt want to stop digging. We are digging on sand because then our machine can get a
huge advantage. We will be going in either zigzags or circles to dig.

Main Beam TBM

The Machine that we are using is the Main Beam TBM by the Robbins Company. Our TBM is in
India so we have to use a cargo plane all the way to Bad Water Basin. Since our tbm is very large we
have to some how take our tbm apart and when it arrives we could put it back together. Our tbm will
have 3 people to operate,since we are taking 6 people we will have shifts for people so they can take
breaks in between the month. For the morning shift,we will have 3 people work,then for afternoon
shift we will have the other 3 work,and so on. Our tbm will cost $30 million alone.
This is the tbm that we are bringing to Bad Water Basin to dig for the 1 month. This tbm was
made by the Robbins Company in Mumbai,India.

%Airbus Beluga Cargo Plane%

The cargo plane that we are taking is the airbus beluga. The airbus beluga is a cargo plane that
looks like a beluga whale. It can carry the tbm taken apart and delivered. The cargo plane will cost
$330 million alone.
This the cargo plane that we are using to transport our equipment to Bad Water Basin.

#Equipment#
The equipment that we will take to Bad water basin are 60 gallons of water, 1 month supply of
food, night vision goggles, oxygen tanks, extra razor blades for tbm, and medical kits. These
equipment will be helpful because they could help us see in the dark and survive for the 1 month. We
will need night vision goggles and oxygen tanks because we will need help seeing in the dark tunnel
and help breathe in the tunnel. We will need extra razor blades because if the blades on the TBM
break or dull we could replace them and won't have a problem. Our equipment sponsor will be the
government.

$Escape Route and Money$

We could use elevator shafts to help us get up if there is any dangerous
situations that happens when we are digging. We could order the elevator shafts or
we could import it from a different country. The amount of money we will use will be
in the billions about $3 billion or more. We could get our money from a government
sponsor to help us get money.
