3 Converting physical machine to virtual machine using VMware vCenter

Converter Standalone (Windows XP):
1. Open the VMware Workstation 9 and click Virtualize a Physical Machine and
Click OK.

2. Once the installation is complete, run the VMware vCenter Converter. Select
Connect to a local server and click login.

3. To convert a machine into virtual, click Convert Machine on the top left
Under the tabs.

4. Select This local machine and click next.

5. Select VMware Workstation as the destination type. Then select a location

for the virtual machine by clicking browse.

6. Click edit on Data to copy option. Select the source volumes to copy to the
destination machine and click next.

7. Click finish to start the conversion task. Now user can monitor the conversion
until the end.

8. Once the conversion is completed, user may run the VMware Workstation to play
the virtual machine.
