Neusole Glassworks Workshop
Saturday March 7, 9AM 2PM

Participants will see a glassblowing demonstration and then take
part in four workshops making a glass ice cream bowl, glass beads, a 4x4 fused glass tile, and a lesson plan
make it/take it workshop. CEUs available! Neusole Glassworks NEW location is much larger with plenty of

Governor Proposes Increasing


Arts Funding
Taken from February 2, 2015 Ohio Citizens for the Arts, State
House Connection, Gov. John Kasich released his proposed FY1617 budget this afternoon. Calling his budget a "Blueprint for A New Ohio", Gov. Kasich proposes to increase the
Ohio Arts Council's total appropriations by 5.5% in FY 2016 to $12 million and by an additional 4.2%, to $12.5
million in FY 2017. State program subsidies (grant awards) would be increased by 5.2% to $10.2 million in FY16
and by 4.9% to $10.7 million in FY17. If you would like more information you can visit their website at

OAEA Youth Art Month Exhibit (YAM) &


OAEA Young Peoples Art Exhibition (YPAE)
The Southwest Region proudly recognizes the following teachers who submitted work for the two statewide
exhibits - the YAM and YPAE. Both of these exhibits take place during the month of March in
Columbus. Artwork in the YAM exhibit will be on display at the State Teachers Retirement System Building
and the YPAE is displayed at the Rhodes State Office Tower. Artists Receptions for both of the exhibits will be
on Saturday, March 14, 2015.

YPAE: SWOAEA has 2 Kindergarten, 2 first grade, 4 second grade, 4 third grade, 2 fourth grade, 2 fifth grade, 2
sixth grade 1 seventh grade, and 3 eighth grade pieces included.
Congratulations to these fine art teachers and their students! Thank you Susan Lawrence for making this
possible!

State-Level Leadership roles

Congratulations to Carrie Barnett - 2nd VP, Adrian Vance Hawk - Best Practices Division Chair (new position
this year) and Pamela Palmarini High School Exhibit Co-Chair on your new positions this year at the state
