the world.

greatly weakened
the strength of the
League

Why did many countries feel bitter


and cheated as a result of the Treaty?
Germanys African and Asian
colonies: Upset that they were not
granted self-determination, or the
freedom to choose their government,
the way the new European countries
had been. Instead they were treated
as protectorates by Britain and
France.

Why did many countries feel bitter

Germany: The Treaty, especially the war
guilt, created bitterness and hatred in the
hearts of most Germans

Italy and Japan: Both joined the
