Changing Over centrifugal Pump
Assuming Pump P1 is on line and P2 is to be brought on lines as shown in
Figure 2.25.
1. Start up standby pump P2 as per procedure up, the pump has been
started and the discharge pressure is normal then.
2. As the discharge valve on P2 is opened, slowly shut the discharge
valve on P1 to stop any unnecessary surge of liquid flow.
When the discharge valve of P2 is fully open and the discharge of P1
is fully closed and providing P2 is operating satisfactorily, then stop
P1 motor.
3. Follow any special instructions that might be issued for the valves,
etc., on P1
