Field trips: Integration of cross- cultural awareness


through hands on training.

Summary

The focus of this strategy will be for students to be acquainted


in the community to several centers. These would include:
Wellness centers, community health education, clinics in rural
communities, and senior centers. Groups of 5 students will
each be assigned a center and will rotate to each one over the
semester. The clinical experiences will culminate with a written
2 page reflection of their experiences.

Preparation Required Facilitators need to make sure that field trips are objective

Also, approval of those sites must be in writing by the Director
of Nursing, and the clinical sites directors. Transportation must
also be addressed, code of conduct, clinical uniforms. Several
instructors will need to be available to accompany the students
to these sites.
