PLAN
OLYMPUS
HIGH
SCHOOL
PURPOSE
The
purpose
of
the
Emergency
Action
Plan
(EAP)
is
to
protect
all
individuals
associated
with
Olympus
High
School
athletics
from
any
possible
injury,
harm,
environmental
or
emergency
situation.
The
EAP
describes
contacts
and
responsibilities
to
be
taken
in
order
to
protect
all
the
individuals
at
Olympus
High
School.
PERSONNEL
Certified
Athletic
Trainers
are
held
responsible
as
the
first
to
evaluate
and
assess
acute
injuries.
Mike
Everett
&
Laurie
Evans
will
be
responsible
to
make
contact
(or
assign
someone
to
make
contact)
with
any
paramedics
including
the
location
of
the
patient
and
current
situation.

Training
of
Personnel
The
Olympus
High
School
athletic
staff
(including
but
not
limited
to
athletic
director,
coaches,
team
physicians
and
athletic
trainers)
is
required
to
attend
an
annual
meeting
in
which
concussion
symptoms
and
protocols
are
reviewed.
All
coaches
and
Athletic
Training
staff
members
are
certified
in
CPR
and
First
Aid.
Instruction
is
given
by
the
Athletic
Training
staff
at
the
beginning
of
each
school
year.
EQUIPMENT
ON
SITE
Medical
equipment
can
be
found
in
the
athletic
training
room
cabinets,
medical
cart,
or
athletic
trainer
medical
bags.
Cabinets
are
kept
locked
24/7.
Both
athletic
trainers,
Kael
Ashton,
and
janitors
have
access
to
cabinet
keys.

Cardiac
distress/arrest:
o Check
Vital
Signs,
o Apply
basic
first
aid
as
needed

for
shock

an
ongoing
assessment.
Fractures:
Splint
the
extremity
the
way
it
was
found.
Do
not
try
to
fix
the
fracture
until
an
EMT/
Paramedic
or
team
physician
can
treat
the
victim
correctly.
Dislocations:
Splint
the
way
it
was
found.
Do
not
attempt
to
relocate
the
dislocated
injury.
Contact
the
Athletic
Trainers,
Team
Physicians
or
activate
EMS.
Spinal
Injuries:
The
head
must
remain
supported
until
trained
assistance
arrives
with
further
instruction.
Do
not
attempt
to
reposition
or
relocate
the
athlete.
ENVIRONMENTAL
EMERGENCIES
Evacuation
Incase
of
evacuation,
inside
events
evacuate
to
the
North
Parking
Lot,
South
Parking
Lot,
and
LDS
Church
Parking
Lot
(West
of
2300
E)
Earthquake
Plan:
Always
stay
indoors
until
shaking
stops
and
the
scene
is
safe.
After
the
shaking
stops:
Check
yourself
for
injuries,
check
others
for
injuries.
Look
for
and
extinguish
small
fires.
Eliminate
fire
hazards
by
turning
off
the
gas.
Listen
to
the
radio
for
instructions.
Expect
aftershocks.
Each
time
you
feel
one,
Drop
&
Cover.
Fire:
Incase
of
a
fire,
there
are
four
nearby
exits
for
the
large
gym.
Two
sets
of
doors
are
on
the
southern
side
of
the
building
leading
directly
outside
to
the
southern
parking
lot
near
the
aquatic
center.
Two
other
exits
lead
towards
the
commons
center.
Once
inside
the
commons
take
a
left,
out
the
outside
doors
and
into
the
parking
lot.
Dehydration/Exertional
Heat
Illness
Heat
illness
is
most
common
with
high
temperatures
and
humidity.
Athletes
who
participate
and
begin
training
in
the
late
summer/early
fall
are
most
at
risk
to
experience
exertional
heat
illness.
Adapting
athletes
in
the
heat
gradually
over
a
10-14
day
period
is
necessary
to
prevent
immediate
dehydration,
progressively
