Act 1 Character Journal

Act 1 scene 1 line 2-5

What know you no, being mechanical, you
ought not walk upon laboring day without the
sign of your profession?
Act 1 scene 2 line 6-9
Forgot not in your speed, Antonius, to touch
Calpurnia; for our elders say, the barren
touched in his holy chase, shake off their
sterile curse.
Act 1 scene 2 line 62-64
Into what dangers would you lead me,
Cassius, that you would have me seek into
myself for that which is not me?
Act 1 scene 2 line 174-175
I am glad that my weak words have struck but
thus much shows of fire from Brutus.
Act 1 scene 2 line 249-250
No, Caesar hath it not; but you, and I, and
honest Cascas, we have the falling sickness.

This to me is saying why are all you people

walking around in casual when it is a day to be
working.
This to me Caesar wants Antony to touch
Calpurnia to make her sterile.

To me I think Brutus is asking Cassius what is

going on with you.

To me Cassius is trying to get Brutus to believe

him.
To me I think that no one will accuse Caesar of
having the falling sickness.

Act 2 Character Journal

Act 2 scene 1 line 10-11
It must be by his death; and for my part, I
know no personal cause to spurn at him.
Act 2 scene 1 line 144-146
O, let us have him, for his silver hairs will
purchase us a good opinion, and buy mens
voices to command our deeds.
Act 2 scene 1 line 150-153
O, name him not; let us break with him; for he
will never follow anything that other men
begin.
Act 2 scene 2 line 105-108
How foolish do your fears seem now,
Calpurnia I am ashamed I did yield to them.
Give me my robe, for I will go.
Act 2 scene 3 line 1-5
'Caesar, beware of Brutus; take heed of

This to me Brutus is saying the only way to

stop Caesar is to kill him.
To me this means with him he will bring them
reasoning, so when others see them they wont
just think they killed Caesar for no reason.
To me they are saying dont include him
because he wont finish what he starts.

To me Caesar is showing his ignorance

towards Portia after he got another
interpretation of her dream.
This to me means that Caesar was trying to be
warned but pushed it away.

Cassius; come not near Casca; have an eye to

Cinna, trust not Trebonius: mark well Metellus
Cimber: Decius Brutus loves thee not: thou
hast wronged Caius Ligarius. There is but one
mind in all these men, and it is bent against
Caesar.

Act 3 Character Journal

Act 3 scene 1 line 16-17
He wish'd to-day our enterprise might thrive.
I fear our purpose is discovered.
Act 3 scene 1 line 214-217
I blame you not for praising Caesar so;
But what compact mean you to have with us?
Will you be prick'd in number of our friends;
Or shall we on, and not depend on you?
Act 3 scene 2 line 116-118
But yesterday the word of Caesar might
Have stood against the world; now lies he
there. And none so poor to do him reverence.
Act 3 scene 2 line 251-254
Never, never. Come, away, away!
We'll burn his body in the holy place,
And with the brands fire the traitors' houses.
Take up the body.
Act 3 scene 2 line 258-259
Now let it work. Mischief, thou art afoot,
Take thou what course thou wilt! How now,
fellow!

To me Cassius has realized people have started

to figure out people know about the
conspiracy.
To me Cassius is asking if they can trust
Antony or not depend on him.

To me Antony is wondering why just yesterday

everyone was fine with Caesar but now no one
cares a little about him.
To me the townspeople have realized that they
need to defend Caesars honour and kill all
related to the Conspiracy.

To me Antony is thinking revenge time let

whatever happens happen.

Act 4 Character Journal

Act 4 scene 1 line 6
He shall not live. Look with a spot I damn
him.
Act 4 scene 3 line 41
O ye gods, ye gods! Must I endure all this?
Act 4 scene 3 line 157

To me I feel Antony is wanting everyone who

is somewhat related to the conspiracy/ Caesars
death dead.
To me I think Cassius thinks that he did
something good so why does he deserve what
is coming to him.
I feel Brutus is wanting to drain all of his

Speak no more of her. Give me a bowl of

wine. In this I bury all unkindness, Cassius.
Act 4 scene 3 line 15
The name of Cassius honours this
corruption.
Act 4 scene 3 line 65
You have done that you should be sorry for.

sorrows from everything that has happened.

I feel that this means Cassius has caused all
corruption.
I feel that Cassius has done something that has
wronged others and it will come back to get
him.

Act 5 character Journal

Act 5 scene 1 line 48-49
Come, come, the cause: if arguing make us
sweat, The proof of it will turn to redder
drops.
Act 5 scene 1 line 67-68
Why, now, blow wind, swell billow and swim
bark! The storm is up, and all is on the
hazard.
Act 5 scene 3 line 60-63
But Cassius is no more. O setting sun, As in
thy red rays thou dost sink to-night,
So in his red blood Cassius' day is set
Act 5 scene 3 line 94-96
O Julius Caesar, thou art mighty yet! Thy
spirit walks abroad and turns our swords
In our own proper entrails.
Act 5 scene 5 line 68-73
This was the noblest Roman of them all:
All the conspirators save only he did that they
did in envy of great Caesar;
He only, in a general honest thought
And common good to all, made one of them.

To me Octavius is saying that he means

business and the only way to settle this is
bloodshed.
To me Cassius is saying the revenge for what
we done is coming for us.

This to me means that Cassius is dead and that

the sun is setting on them, meaning the revenge
is here.
To me Brutus is saying that Caesar has gotten
his revenge at Phillipi.

This to me says that Brutus was the only on

with good intentions. Everyone else did it for
themselves.
